The company's history spans 170 years.

After the start-up of the Berlin - Vienna railway line (which ran through Kuźnia Raciborska), the first steel plant called "Nadzieja" ("Hope") is erected right next to the railway station. In the second half of the nineteenth century, a rolling mill and an cast iron foundry is added.

Takeover of the factory by Wilhelm Hegenscheidt. During that time, the factory is manufacturing various building equipment and products for railways (such as bolts and axles for wheel sets).

The first lathe for machining of heavy wheel sets is produced.

Takeover of the company by Adolf Schondorff.

The RAFAMET, as we know it today, comes into being. During the next few years the company acts under the name "RAFO". With time, the factory begins manufacturing of a second family of machine tools – heavy-duty universal vertical turning and boring mills for users in the machine-building, power generation, shipbuilding, metallurgical, aerospace and armament industries. In the coming years the company's production range is extended into large-size horizontal lathes, portal milling machines and special-purpose machine tools.

As an economic experiment, RAFAMET (and two other Polish companies) acquires the right to independent export and import activities without the Foreign Trade Agencies.

The state-owned RAFAMET enterprise is transformed into a joint-stock company (S.A.).

The foundry is separated from the organizational structure of RAFAMET S.A. The RAFAMET Foundry Ltd. is formed.

The company's shares are admitted to be traded on the over the counter market CeTO S.A., making it the first company in Poland to do so.

The governmental Industrial Development Agency (Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A.) takes possession of the 46.72% packet of the company's shares and remains, to this day, the biggest shareholder of the company.

RAFAMET S.A. makes its debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (Giełda Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie S.A.)

The new Assembly Shop no. 2 is commissioned.

Acquisition of the PORĘBA 1798 trademark.
