RAFAMET S.A. will execute another contract for the Danish company FLSmidth A/S. The subject of the agreement is the delivery of a heavy-duty vertical turning lathe KCI, along with installation, commissioning, and staff training in India. Project execution is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027, finalizing the agreement outlined in the letter of intent signed in August 2026.

This marks the sixth KCI series machine supplied to the FLSmidth Group. Previous lathes from this line were delivered to Customer facilities, including those in Chile, Peru, Brazil and Kazakhstan. The new project in the Indian market further strengthens the strategic partnership between the two companies in the supply of heavy-duty vertical turning lathes.

KCI heavy-duty vertical turning lathes are advanced machining centers engineered for high-precision machining of large and heavy workpieces. They are deployed in the most demanding heavy engineering, manufacturing, and mining applications worldwide.

On May 13–14, 2026, the acceptance process for two UGE 180 N underfloor wheel lathes was successfully completed at the RAFAMET production facility. All tests and acceptance procedures were carried out successfully and concluded with positive results.

RAFAMET’s direct customer for this project is BaikonurStroySnab LLP, the main contractor for an investment project carried out for Stadler Kazakhstan. The project includes the construction of a modern depot and maintenance facility for railway vehicles operated by JSC National Company “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” and JSC “Passenger Transportation”. Our machines will be delivered to the maintenance workshop, where they will support the servicing and repair of the rolling stock operated by the Kazakhstan Railways.

On April 9–10, 2026, the Poland–Kazakhstan Business Forum took place in Astana, organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH). RAFAMET, together with the Industrial Development Agency (Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A.) and companies from the ARP Capital Group (ŚGP INDUSTRIA S.A., Polski Tabor Szynowy WAGON), was part of the Polish delegation participating in the forum.

The event brought together representatives of numerous companies interested in the development of economic cooperation between the two countries. RAFAMET representatives (Rafał Rychter – President & CEO, Łukasz Huk – Sales Director, Siergiej Kobierski – Sales Manager) held a series of meetings with both existing and potential partners from the railway and industrial sectors. These meetings allowed for the identification of specific areas of cooperation and confirmed the great potential for developing business relations on the Kazakh market.

Participation in the forum was not only about presence, but also a clear confirmation of RAFAMET’s strategic commitment to expanding its export activities and building long-term partnerships in Kazakhstan and the wider region.

RAFAMET S.A. has confirmed an order received from NPSE JOINT VENTURE CO., LTD., based in Thailand, for the delivery and installation of a specialized UGE type underfloor wheel lathe. Delivery and installation of the machine are scheduled for the turn of the third and fourth quarters of 2027.

The end-user of the machine tool will be the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), the national rail operator in Thailand managing a network of over 4,000 km of railway lines connecting Bangkok with key regions across the country. The execution of this order marks another stage of RAFAMET's long-standing presence in the Thai market, as SRT's maintenance facilities have previously received a series of UBF 112 N wheel lathes as well as a UDA 125 N portal wheel lathe. This continued trust in our technology from Thailand's national rail operator is another clear recognition of the quality, reliability, and durability of RAFAMET machine tools.

The UGE underfloor wheel lathe is an advanced machine tool designed for the precise reprofiling of wheel profiles and brake discs directly on railway vehicles, eliminating the need to dismantle the wheelsets. This solution significantly reduces rolling stock downtime and increases the efficiency of maintenance processes.’

On March 17, 2026, RAFAMET signed a contract with Novatech Srl. for the delivery of a UGE-type underfloor wheel lathe, which will be installed at the Dacia Depot tram facility in Iași.

Dacia Depot is one of the most advanced public transport infrastructure projects in Eastern Europe. The investment includes the construction of a modern depot for trams, electric buses, and trolleybuses, along with the development of supporting infrastructure. 

As part of the project, RAFAMET, in cooperation with Novatech Srl., will supply a specialized UGE-type underfloor wheel lathe designed for servicing and maintaining tram wheelsets. By implementing advanced maintenance technologies, Dacia Depot will become a key component of Iași’s sustainable transport system—supporting emission reduction while enhancing the quality of public services. This marks another step for RAFAMET in delivering projects that support the development of modern and environmentally friendly urban transport across Europe.

RAFAMET S.A. is set to fulfill another order for the domestic railway sector. The company has signed a contract for the delivery of a specialized UFD 140 N wheel lathe to Polski Tabor Szynowy - Wagon Sp. z o.o., based in Ostrów Wielkopolski. Delivery is scheduled for the turn of the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.

The recipient, Polski Tabor Szynowy – Wagon Sp. z o.o., is a well-established entity in the railway sector belonging to the ARP S.A. Capital Group, specializing in the manufacturing, modernization, repair, and servicing of rolling stock, with a particular focus on freight wagons and their components. The delivery of the UFD 140 N wheel lathe will allow for the further modernization of the machinery park at the Ostrów Wielkopolski facility. We are pleased that RAFAMET solutions will once again support the efficiency of servicing operations and the development of the Polish railway sector.
